1.  What is a Fiancee Visa?

A fiancee visa (K1 Visa) allows a non-resident the opportunity to visit the USA for 90 days to meet and have exposure to her US Citizen fiancee's family, friends, home, situation and environment.  It is a great idea, to help couples get to know each other better before committing to marriage.  She does not have to marry the fiancee.  However she must leave the USA if she has not married the fiancee within the 90 days.

2.  How long does it take to get the visa granted? 

If the application forms are properly completed and submited it normally takes 6 to 9 months.

3. How long does it take to get a Spousal Visa (K3)?

Though immigration has officially stated Fiancee and Spousal visa application should take an equivalent time to process, spousal visas are still taking twice as long to be processed, on average 12 to 18 months. is the same.

4. Do I need to meet my fiancee in person?

Yes, you really must meet her in person before applying. In only the RAREST of circumstances will the INS grant a fiance visa if the couple has not met. If you have extraordinary hardship, or religious grounds that prevent you meeting the fiancee in advance of applying you might get approval. However not being able to pay for a plane ticket, or not having time off from work, never is accepted as a reason.

5. Can I start the application  process before my trip to meet the fiancee?

It is a good idea to "know before you go" exactly what documents and items you will need for your application, so that you can discuss these with your fiancee in person, and obtain all or most during your trip. 6. Can a marry my Fiancee in her country then bring her back right away.

No. If you decide to marry her first, then after the marriage you can apply for a Spousal visa.

7. How do I document my relationship with my fiancee?

Typically copies or correspondences and photos of the two of you together are required to demonstrate the duration and quality of the relationship. Expert Tip # 3

Attach to the I-129F abundant documentation offering proof of your relationship and intention to marry. Copies of letters, emails, faxes, telephone logs, receipts from travel, shipping, couriers, photos of you both together, engagement announcements are all useful. More rather then less is the rule here. The USCIS officer will not be offended if more materials are present then he needs. He will disregard whatever he does not feel is relevant. Just be sure that the documents are neatly presented, bound or stapled and organized in a logical fashion.
